If you don’t mind spending a bit more on Japanese steak, Momonoki is your best option. This classy steakhouse is known for its top-notch tenderloin and sirloin A5 steak. The presentation of your food is a performance in itself. Given its extensive list of wines, you can’t drink here without ordering food.

For your okonomiyaki cravings, Hassei serves some of the most lauded Japanese pancakes. If you’re looking for okonomiyaki specific to your diet, this restaurant is very flexible and can serve vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

This teppanyaki restaurant is your go-to place in Naga for griddle-cooked foods. Its bestselling omakase menu (which the chef chooses for you) includes Kagoshima Wagyu beef and shirako (male cod). Popular among locals and local tourists, Hanako has a Japanese-only menu, so you might want to use Google Lens or any app to translate the menu. It’s pretty small and can accommodate up to 8 people.
